THE MOLDOVAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY PROMOTES COOPERATION BETWEEN THE RESEARCH COMMUNITY AND THE BUSINESS SECTOR WITHINTHE FRAMEWORK OF THE MOLDOVA-CHINA FORUM

On September 1, 2026, Sergiu Haria, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, participated in the Moldovan-Chinese Forum on Agriculture on Black Soils, an event that brings together representatives of the business community, research institutions, and the scientific community from the Republic of Moldova and the People’s Republic of China. A delegation from China, consisting of approximately 30 representatives from companies and research institutions, is participating in the forum, along with representatives from companies, academic institutions, and research institutes in the Republic of Moldova.

The event, which took place from September 1 to 5, 2026, in Chisinau and Balti, was dedicated to the exchange of expertise and the development of Moldovan-Chinese cooperation in the field of agriculture, with a focus on research, the protection and sustainable use of chernozem soils, as well as the application of innovative solutions in the agricultural sector. During his speech, Sergiu Harea, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, emphasized the need for closer cooperation between the business community and research institutions so that research findings and innovations developed in academia can be transformed into solutions applicable to the economy. “To enhance the competitiveness of the national economy, it is important to align scientific research with the real needs of the business community and to use research findings to create concrete solutions for companies. Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and China gives us the opportunity to exchange experiences, adopt best practices, and identify new areas of cooperation, including in the field of agriculture,” noted Sergiu Harea..

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova emphasized that the transfer of knowledge and technology between research institutions and businesses can help increase productivity, modernize production processes, and enhance companies’ competitiveness. In this context, Sergiu Harea noted that the membership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova also includes major higher education and research institutions, such as the Technical University of Moldova and the State University of Moldova, and that the Chamber supports the development of closer ties between research, innovation, and the needs of the business community. The forum also serves as a platform for establishing direct contacts between companies and research institutions in both countries, exchanging best practices, and identifying opportunities to develop joint initiatives and projects in the agricultural sector.

The Moldovan-Chinese Forum on Agriculture in Chernozem Soils was organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova in collaboration with ANSO—the World Association of Mollisols, the National Center for Seed Research and Production, and the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
