The Moldovan Parliament has passe the new law on the state border that stipulates tightening conditions of foreign citizens’ entry info the country.

 22.07.2011 The law was approved basing on Moldova’s strategic orientation on joining the European Union and Schengen space to harmonize the national legislation with the European one, to ensure efficient integrated management of the state border and to fulfill obligations to the European Union, stipulated in the Plan of Actions Moldova – European Union in liberalization of the free order for Moldovan citizens. It is noted that the existing normative base regulating supervision and control of the state border, doesn’t meet the modern needs, is out-of-date, while the Law on Moldova’s state border of 1994 was elaborated on the basis on the Soviet model. The new law stipulates specific conditions of entry in Moldova. Particularly, to ground the goal of entry into the country, a frontiersman is to demand presentation of a number of documents from foreigners. The following documents will be demanded for business trips: invitation from an enterprise, organization or institution; documents confirming the economic interest. For trips in order to study or for some other trainings, one needs to present a document, confirming registration in an educational institution or other forms of studying and a student car or a lessons attendance certification. For personal and travel purposes, a foreigner will have to present a travel voucher; a document confirming hotel accommodation; invitation from a receiving party with the address of the invited; confirmation of reservation for the organized trip or any other similar document demonstrating plans of the trip; the return ticket. Trips for political, scientific, cultural, sport, religious and other purposes will require presentation of the invitation, tickets, program, name of the receiving organization and durability of the visit or another similar document mentioning the goal of the visit.
